Captain and absolute legend of Bosnian football. Born in Sarajevo in March 1986, in the first year of the war his family sheltered in a basement from shelling. Played for Željezničar, Teplice, Wolfsburg, Manchester City, Roma, Inter, Fenerbahçe. With the national team since 2007 — record holder in both appearances and goals.

June 25, 2014, Arena Pantanal, Cuiabá: Bosnia vs. Iran at World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Džeko opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, final score 3:1 — Bosnia's only World Cup victory in history.
